Behind the Scenes
ARtist's Statement
I Want to Be Alone is an experiment that combines my love of character animation with my passion for abstract animation in traditional mediums. This film's narrative framework stems from my experiences with synesthesia and sensory overwhelm. I experience sound intensely, often accompanied by bright flashes of color and shapes that dance across my body. Because of this, loud, busy spaces are more challenging for me to navigate. Through animation, I am able to relay these experiences to people who do not know me and foster deeper connections to others. If you relate to this film in any way, whether through your own experience or a deeper understanding of someone close to you, then I have done my job.
